IEEE OC Computer Society & OCACM Presentation Meeting “The Use of AI Diagnostics in Healthcare”

New implementations of Artificial Intelligence have already changed many industries and are quickly becoming ubiquitous in consumer products. Healthcare is just taking notice, and use of AI to assist physicians in diagnosis is emerging as the first use case. In this talk, Dr. Taraman will survey the current landscape of AI in healthcare with focus on diagnostic implementations and will also discuss the opportunities and challenges in this space.
Speaker Bio
Sharief Taraman, MD is the Assistant Division Chief of Neurology at CHOC Children’s Hospital and VP of Medical at Cognoa, a startup using machine learning to diagnose and treat neurobehavioral conditions. He is an assistant clinical professor at the University of California-Irvine and is the site director at CHOC Children’s for the clinical informatics fellowship. Dr. Taraman is dual board certified in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology and clinical informatics. He is actively involved in the the CHOC Children’s Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute and the community serving as a board member for the American Academy of Pediatrics Orange County Chapter, the medical advisory board for the Irvine Unified School District, and volunteers with the Girl Scouts of Orange County.
