Somewhat unique amongst engineers, John right out of college (UCI BSEE 1989) started as an one man shop, having to learn along the way business and management skills through errors and trials as the startup grew. His business focused in analog IC design and incorporated in 1996 ((http://www.customsiliconsolutions.com/)). Over the years some recognizable clients served included Rockwell Semiconductor, Western Digital, Broadcom, Qualcom, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, L3 Harris, and many more. John was responsible for more than 300 “tape-outs” in his career. He will also highlight the major challenges a small semiconductor concern faces in the current environment.
