Inaugural 2022 Chairman Statement

Chairman Statement

Dear Orange County IEEE Members,

I’m Alberto Tam Yong, the incoming Chair for the IEEE Orange County Section. I’m honored and excited to serve in this role and continue to promote the growth of our community. We have an excellent team of volunteer leaders that host technical, professional, social, and educational events and programs. Our technical society chapters feature interesting and relevant presentations to address the challenges and opportunities in the different fields of engineering. Our affinity group chapters and special interest groups gather individuals with similar backgrounds and mutual interests. Our student branches design and execute programs to support and enhance our student members’ university experience. In addition, as a Section, we support a wide variety of activities in STEM, conferences, awards, educational activities, professional development, and leadership growth.

Our e-Lynx newsletter is a great resource to share our upcoming activities, other global virtual events, and opportunities for our members. Make sure to review it periodically to stay on top of the latest announcements and register for events and conferences. https://e-lynx.org/

Our website features information about our Section, the volunteers, and reports of our activities. Check it out if you are interested in learning more about us. https://r6.ieee.org/ocs/

As I mentioned, we are a team of volunteers seeking to help you, our community. Reach out to us with your feedback and share your successes and professional needs. We want to continue improving our services and offer relevant content. If you are looking for leadership opportunities, join us as a volunteer. We have some vacant positions in our executive team, committees, and chapters. Whether a member or a volunteer, active members typically get the most value out of their membership.

Thank you for being a member, and I look forward to working with you.

Alberto Tam Yong
