Abstract:

Peter Schade will share his work on a disjoint node array (DAC) server, a new approach for processing large databases with a storage-centric computer. The storage centric DAC server is contrasted to current Storage-Transmission-Processing Servers (STP) in terms of cost, efficiency, and speed. The DAC server uses off-the-shelf memory and processor components and relies on standard protocols like USB in a novel architecture that provide 2020X processing throughput for equivalent cost with lower power and cooling needs.
