Abstract
Authentication is verifying who the actual person is on the other side of any kind of on-line or electronic interaction/transaction. This is crucial in today’s connected world. Remembering and securing multiple strong passwords is a nightmare for organizations and end users. On top of that, in order to create a safer world, we are adding more complexity and unproductive solutions, through different kind of second factor authentication such as Tokens, OTP, Biometric, Q&A, Coordinate Cards, etc.
The big problem is that if all the companies have proper security with strong authentication, the burden to them and end users will increase exponentially. Many acknowledge that this is not sustainable and that we need to rethink the authentication challenge to come up with something better, but we do not have enough open proposals. We now have the opportunity to start this discussion openly. We must define and use an Open International Standard for Authentication. Daniel Caselles will present us his company’s approach and first draft for this huge challenge: the Universal Authentication Wallet.
