Many consider hiring and team assembly to be a purely human endeavor, but that is changing. A new rapidly growing industry has emerged that harnesses the world’s data for talent evaluation, hiring, and the related network analysis of team assembly. The rapid progress and early impact of this has been dramatic, especially given the area’s messy data and substantial technical complexities. Pegged Software, a company in this space, has had 100% success at reducing employee turnover across its 119 healthcare institution clients in every department and every job category, with a median employee turnover reduction of 38%. Pegged has also achieved 162% better improvements against a control group and improvements by 30 percentile points in patience experience (HCAHP scores that determine reimbursement rates). In this presentation, Pegged CEO Mike Rosenbaum will talk about the progress of the industry from a technology perspective and from an adoption perspective, including talking through the challenges of dealing with data in legacy systems, the opportunities generated by recent advances, and the various adoption and technical approaches taken by different companies in the space.
Prior to starting Pegged Software, Mike Rosenbaum received an Irving R. Kaufman Fellowship to support his work building the first version of what is now the company’s analytics engine for talent selection. Before Pegged, Rosenbaum was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics at Harvard, and served at the White House as an economist, at the U.S. Department of State on trade issues and issues related to the former Soviet Union, and at Coopers & Lybrand in the Russian Federation on privatization and commercialization in the early 1990’s. In addition to his academic work around what became Pegged Software, Rosenbaum’s publications and work focused on the application of data to the most subjective areas of human endeavors. His work was featured in the Stanford Law and Policy Review and the Harvard John M. Olin Fellow Center for Law, Economics and Business Series.
In the community, Rosenbaum serves as a trustee of the Baltimore Museum of Art and of Bryn Mawr School. He is a past board member of the Family Tree and the Leadership Council of the Open Society Institute, a former chair of Maryland IT PAC, and a former president of the Harvard Club of Maryland.
Rosenbaum has a JD from Harvard Law School, an MS in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA from Harvard College.
