Agenda:
The Internet of Things and Scaling the Internet Architecturally
Monique Jeanne Morrow, CTO- Evangelist- New Frontiers Development and Engineering, Cisco Systems Inc
With billions of objects connecting to each other one obvious concern are the scaling properties of the Internet. What should these properties look like? Attributes? Further, we can expect another 3 billion people to be “connected” within next 3-5 years most of whom will come from so called developing countries. The implications from IoT include the further development of the “Energy Internet”. We need to challenge ourselves as engineers as to what we must implement exponentially and within a hyper-innovation environment that exceed use case scenarios. Finally – embedded security AND privacy become somewhat intertwined – especially at the micro code level. The challenges only can inspire invention at its best in a collaborative economy. Are you ready?
The Journey of Live Broadcast Production from SDI to IP
Subha Dhesikan, Principal Engineer, Cisco Systems Inc.
The progress towards 4K and 8K Television is causing significant infrastructure changes in the Live Broadcast Production Industry. These changes are challenging because they are cost prohibitive and operationally difficult. At the same time, the progress and adoption of high speed Data Center is occurring at a rapid pace. These events have created the right environment for the industry to move from the traditional SDI Network to IP Network. Every major broadcaster around the world is investigating how to make this transition happen without impacting their day-to-day operations and revenues.
Subha is defining the architecture and technical strategy to assist the broadcasters in implementing this transition successfully. She has developed a three-layer architecture that can address the key requirements and provide a replacement of the SDI-based video router with an IP Network. She will provide a view of the solution to address this new market disruption.
