Steve Jobs’ inimitable leadership & Apple’s metamorphosis: what can we learn from his four avatars? (slides)

This talk will discuss Steve Jobs’ distinctive and inimitable management style using an “Avatar Framework” to explain Jobs’ four personalities: Artist, Manager, Cowboy, and Tyrant. The talk is based on the book “Avatars of Steve Jobs” that describes over 47 of his critical decisions between 1997 and 2011, a period that was the genesis of the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad and the mobile era that continues today. The talk will discuss 1-2 decisions for each avatar and highlight its impact on the metamorphosis. The talk will end with sharing of the lessons learned during the exercise and how these lessons could be applied by today’s leaders.
