Summary:
IEEE is the largest global network of professionals and volunteers dedicated to promoting engineers and scientists and to inspiring members worldwide to follow their own technical interests/inspirations within engineering and science. To inspire and encourage members working and succeeding in a technological field, Dr. Tan will give a talk based on his rich personal experience and extensive knowledge through functional/project management and technology/product development. The webinar will be followed by a Q&A session and a discussion where you can interact directly with the speaker. We welcome you to ask your questions when you register. Planed topics include: 1) Development of career paths; 2) Career and work-life balance; 3) Career plans and role models for long-term career inspiration; 4) Synergies in leadership skills between work and volunteering for IEEE; and 5) Finding a mentor/sponsor through your workspace and through IEEE volunteering.

Bio: Dr. Tan has served as Distinguished Engineer, Fellow, Chief Engineer-Power Conversion, Program Manager, Department Manager, and Center Director in a US Fortune 500 corporation. Don earned his PhD from Caltech and is an IEEE fellow. Unusually prolific as a visionary technical leader in ultra-efficient power conversion and electronic energy systems, he has pioneered breakthrough innovations with numerous high-impact industry firsts and record performances that received commendations from the highest level of US Government. He has developed hundreds of designs and thousands of hardware units deployed for space applications without a single on-orbit failure. His suite of world-class electronics performed flawlessly on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), located one million miles away, achieving world-record-breaking performances.
