Bio: Jim Phillips, BScEE, PE, SMIEE, MIET. Founder of the training company Brainfiller, Inc. Associate Director of U.K. based Electrical Safety UK and is Contributing Editor for Electrical Contractor Magazine. Jim is Vice-Chair of the IEEE 1584 working group, member of the steering committee of IEEE/NFPA collaboration on arc flash research, International Chair of IEC TC78 – Live Working which includes the international Arc Flash Standards and is a Technical Committee Member of NFPA 70E. His career began in 1981 with Square D Company’s Power System Analysis Group where he was responsible for power system studies, software development and corporate training. Later he headed the transmission short circuit studies group of Ohio Edison Company and was also an adjunct faculty in electrical power systems at Stark State College.
