The IEEE Utah Section was formed on 09 March 1917. Throughout the years, the Section has been able to engage in hundreds of scientific and educational activities and efforts.
IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The organization inspires a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its members, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. It is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe. IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions.
IEEE creates an environment where members collaborate on world‐changing technologies, from computing and sustainable energy systems to aerospace, communications, robotics, healthcare, and more. The organization is led by a diverse body of elected and appointed volunteer members. It has sponsored various programs to honor achievements in education, industry, research, and service. Volunteering for IEEE is a rewarding experience for professionals from a variety of disciplines.
The first Utah Section Chair was Alfred Stanley Peters. His vision and willingness to assume this role has allowed for 100 Years of exceptional engineering leadership within the Section.
