We were able to have several great events over 2023!  For those of you who missed them, we missed you.  Please join us in 2024!  Here’s the highlights for 2023.

Computer Graphics Milestone

This was a great event, years in the making, that recognizes the pioneering work done at the University of Utah in computer graphics.  The event was covered in IEEE Spectrum.  Many thanks to Dan Donahoe for his tireless work making this a reality.  The University of Utah celebrated this milestone with a technical symposium and lectures by many of those involved in the developments.

i-ETC Conference

The IEEE Utah Section has co-sponsored the Intermountain Engineering, Technology and Computing (i-ETC) Conference since it started in 2020.  This year it was held at UVU on May 13 & 14.


SLC Bees Game

On September 9th the Utah section invited members and their families to come out to the SLC Bees baseball game.  Chad Kidder successfully arranged socialization event at Salt Lake Bees. it was a great fun and networking event on Saturday evening for IEEE Utah Section.

Boeing Little Mountain Test Facility Tour

The IEEE Utah Section would like to thank Boeing Company for giving an opportunity to tour Little Mountain Test Facility in Utah this summer 2023. It was a very informative tour about EMC/EMI, Mechanical testing, and other important testing procedures.

Chevron Refinery Tour

t was fascinating to see the Technologies in Chevron Refinery in Salt Lake City. Sincere Appreciation to Chevron for giving refinery tour to the IEEE Utah Section Engineers, Scientists and Students.  It was extremely informative.

Outstanding Leadership in Membership Development

Dan Christenson received the IEEE Region 6 Outstanding Leadership in Membership Development Award for 2022 in February of this year at the region Operating committee meeting in California.  This award recognizes the many years of service Dan has provided to the Utah section for helping elevate members to senior membership and sharing the benefits of membership to technologist in Utah.
