Light Dinner: This month we’re continuing with our light dinner format — typically sandwiches, salad, drinks, and cookie or similar light dinner.
Presentation: Networking as a Model Too often, job interviews are semi-adversarial. Recruiters and hiring managers see themselves and are seen by candidates as looking for reasons to reject the candidate. A better model is to view the interview as a unique networking opportunity that can be a win-win for both parties whether or not employment results.
Candidates for management positions typically bring a wealth of business experience. The job interview can be a mini-consulting session. What does the candidate see that attracts him or her to the position? What shortcomings and issues are apparent? What possible solutions can be offered? The candidate gains exposure to company methodologies often unavailable to outside observers. In this session, we will explore and practice this non-confrontational approach to job interviews.
