Section Treasurer Responsibilities

The Section Treasurer role is much more than distributing checks and paying the bills. The Treasurer is the Chief Financial Officer of the Section. As such, the Treasurer is expected to proactively manage the financial health of the Section. The Treasurer is an integral part of the Section administration and a key member of the Section Executive Committee

Roles:

  • Serves as an officer of the Phoenix Section ExCom;
  • Serves as member of the Phoenix Section OpCom;
  • Chairs the Section Finance Committee;
  • Coordinates the formation of the Section Audit Committee but is not a member of that committee. In general, the Treasurer responsibilities include:
    • Manages the Phoenix Section’s finances and financial responsibilities;
    • Works with the Phoenix Section Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary to ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the Section OpCom, IEEE-MGA and to the Region 6 Treasurer as required;
    • Presents the annual budget to the Phoenix Section for approval;
    • Understands current important issues and their complexities and provide sound counsel to the Phoenix Section Chair and other members of the Section OpCom;
    • Identifies, encourages, nominates and mentors candidates for higher volunteer positions within the Phoenix Section, Region 6 or other IEEE entity.
