Satellite Telecommunications & Earth Observation Deep Dive

Online

Mark Goldstein, President of International Research Center will present an insightful and in-depth session on the future of the satellite industry, focusing on the key developments shaping the telecommunications, broadband, and Earth Observation (EO) segments. His presentation will explore the revolution in launch capabilities and capacities as well as cutting-edge technologies such as Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations, the rise of 5G satellite Direct to Device (D2D) integration, and innovations in remote sensing and analysis. We'll examine the impact of these trends on global connectivity, high-speed internet access, intelligence and environmental monitoring, and cybersecurity while also examining the challenges and opportunities facing industry stakeholders. Gain a strategic understanding of how these advancements are revolutionizing the satellite landscape, driving growth in critical sectors, and finding innovative new applications and use cases.

LIES, DAMNED LIES, AND DISINFORMATION

Online

Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics Disinformation As Abraham Lincoln famously said, "Don't believe everything you read on the internet." During this presentation, we'll define terms and review how mis- and dis-information are being used to perpetrate fraud, abuse the stock market, harm people's health, influence elections, and topple governments (plus make it harder to have rational conversations about current events with your great uncle Lou!). We'll also look at the role of artificial intelligence and then possible ways to identify mis- and dis-information. This should be an interesting, if a bit scary, discussion! Ilene Klein, CISSP, CISM, is an Information Security Specialist TD Bank. Her main role is to coordinate incident response and internal crisis communications for the bank. For over 25 years, Ilene has been evangelizing security to anybody who would listen … and to management.  During this time, she built and led compliance, governance, incident response, privacy, policy, security awareness, threat intelligence, and vulnerability management programs and frameworks.  Ilene started her career as an electronics instructor and then traveled from Honolulu to Heidelberg as a systems engineer installing proprietary software for the U.S. Army and resolving system crashes before focusing on cybersecurity. From there, Ilene worked at large global companies, local governments, and other entities helping to increase organizations' and partners' cyber resilience. She's earned multiple security and privacy certifications, and she’s won awards such as the CISM Geographic Excellence Award for earning the highest score in the North America geographical region on the December 2011 Certified Information Security Manager examination and a 2018 Warrior Award for fighting on the “front lines” of cybersecurity.
