On Monday, December 30th, the Glad Tidings Family Life Complex in Hayward, CA, buzzed with excitement as we hosted our End of Year Youth STEM Workshop, a collaborative effort between Glad Tidings Community Development Corporation and IEEE engineering professionals association. This incredible event brought together 22 enthusiastic kids and parents, along with dedicated volunteers from Glad Tidings, IEEE, UC Berkeley, WorkDay, and California State University East Bay.
Participants explored the wonders of engineering through three engaging projects:
๐Ÿ”น Building a Sturdy Bridge โ€“ Encouraging creative problem-solving and teamwork.
๐Ÿ”น Creating a Glowing LED Snowman โ€“ Introducing basic electronics in a fun, festive way.
๐Ÿ”น Designing a Motorized Sweeping Car โ€“ Sparking innovation and hands-on learning.
The workshop began with a continental breakfast to fuel our young engineers, followed by a day of learning, creativity, and collaboration. We had a midday break with delicious pizza lunch and wrapped up the day celebrating the participants’ hard work and accomplishments.
Thank you to all the families, kids, and volunteers who made this event a success! Your enthusiasm and support continue to drive our mission to bring STEM education to our community.
Stay tuned for more exciting events in 2025 โ€“ we canโ€™t wait to build, innovate, and grow with you! ๐Ÿš€
