IEEE PES Webinar: 2024 Top 5 Papers of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
IEEE PES Webinar: 2024 Top 5 Papers of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid
Presented by: Gregor Verbic, Yan Cui, Alfan Presekal, Weihao Hu, Linfang Yan, Yan Xu This webinar: Aims to showcase the Top 5 papers selected in 2024 among the ones published in the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. The IEEE-TSG is a cross-disciplinary journal aimed at disseminating the results of research on and development of the smart grid, which encompasses energy networks where prosumers, electric transportation, distributed energy resources, and communications are integral and interactive components, as in the case of microgrids and active distribution networks interfaced with transmission systems. Presenter Bio(s): Yan Cui, Yan Cui received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2018 and 2023, respectively. Since 2023, Dr. Cui has served as a Quantitative Strategy Researcher at Ubiquant Investment in Beijing, China. IEEE PES Webinar: Inertia-Aware Frequency-Constrained Power System Operations
IEEE PES Webinar: Inertia-Aware Frequency-Constrained Power System Operations
Presented by: Xingpeng Li, University of Houston This webinar will describe a general procedure for enforcing grid dynamic performance in look-ahead optimal energy scheduling models. Particularly, the talk will demonstrate this procedure by explaining how to create a machine learning-based frequency stability prediction model that is then integrated into optimal energy scheduling models, creating novel inertia-constrained grid operation models. Presenter bio: Xingpeng Li is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, where he was an Assistant Professor from 2018 to 2024. He previously worked for ISO New England, PJM Interconnection, and ABB’s Power Grid division (now is Hitachi Energy). He received the NSF CAREER award in 2024. His research interests include power system control and operations, grid reliability and stability, and microgrids optimal sizing and energy management. After the Webinar: The recording, slides, and education credit will be available in the PES Resource Center, https://resourcecenter.ieee-pes.org/education/webinars within 3-5 business days.
