The 8th IEEE Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (IEEE EI² 2024) will be held in Shenyang, China from November 29 to December 02, 2024, which focuses on innovative technologies and practical applications in the fields of Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (ESI), aiming at the integration of multiple energy sources such as electricity, gas, heating, cooling and transport to shape a green, low-carbon, smart and efficient ecosystem. It aims to integrate multiple energy sources, such as electricity, gas, heating, cooling and transport, to shape a green, low-carbon, smart and efficient ecosystem. The theme of the conference is “Towards Green and Intelligent Energy Internet”, which explores artificial intelligence technologies for the Energy Internet, zero-carbon and low-carbon energy interconnection system, new quality productivity construction for the energy sector, energy big data processing, new energy technologies and system integration, control and optimization of the energy internet, energy market and energy trading, energy security and risk, electric motor technologies and intelligent drive systems, and key support technologies for new power systems, etc. The goal is to push forward the process of AI-enabling of the energy system, to improve the efficiency of energy and to achieve sustainable development of energy and resources. The IEEE International Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration has been successfully held for seven times so far in Beijing, Changsha, Wuhan, Taiyuan, Chengdu, Hangzhou, etc. IEEE EI² has been widely recognized by the global academic and industrial communities in the field of energy, and has received more than 1,000 academic papers from more than 20 countries and regions around the world, attended by more than 1,000 experts and scholars. It is the most influential annual academic event in the field of global energy internet. |

Presented by: Abder Elandaloussi, Southern California Edison and Eric Davis, Con Edison This webinar: Digital twins have been commonly used in many industries historically and well understood. For the electric utility sector, adopting such a technology isn’t as simple as importing the same software and processes as used by other industries. Careful consideration of the composition of the electric grid and the complex frameworks and IT/OT architectures that currently exist today within utilities must be made before embarking on a digital twin implementation journey. This presentation will share insights into what digital twins mean for electric utilities by providing an over-arching definition of digital twins specific for the electric utility sector, discuss considerations to the architecture and core functionalities of digital twins, and use cases for the application of digital twins to improve engineering maintenance, operations, design, and planning functions. Presenter bios: Abder Elandaloussi is a senior engineer at Southern California Edison. Within the Industry Technical Support Leadership Committee under IEEE PES, Abder is the chair of the digital twin taskforce and co-chair of the technology taskforce under ITSLC. Eric Davis is a Section Manager in Con Edison’s Research and Development. Eric started his career in the mining industry and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University. |
