IEEE PES Webinar: Standardizing Short-Circuit Response and Modeling of Inverter-Based Resources
Presented by: Mainish Patel, Silicon Ranch Corporation
This webinar:
The penetration of inverter-based resources is growing rapidly around the globe. During a fault, the behavior of inverter-based resource is very different from a traditional synchronous machine based generation. As the penetration of inverter-based resources increases, thee industry needs to understand their behavior so that these resources can be accurately modeled and their impact on various protection schemes can be studied in detail. There is also an opportunity to standardize the fault response to the extent possible. This presentation will also discusses challenges with modeling inverter-based resources in a short circuit programs which are developed for systems dominated by synchronous machines.
