Upcoming Events

IEEE SSCS Distinguished Lecture - Circuit Labs at the Lunch Table with MOSbius

Dr. Peter Kinget from Columbia University will be presenting a Distinguished Lecturer Seminar titled "Circuit Labs at the Lunch Table with MOSbius" on Friday, April 3rd at 11:00 AM. Attendance will be eligible for seminar credit.

Peter Kinget and his team of researchers at Columbia University developed the MOSbius platform to bring the world of analog design out of the simulator and onto the lab bench. Test and measurement of analog circuits is tricky, but the "aha" moments when the circuits come to life bring a satisfying payoff that often leaves lasting impressions. If you would like to read more, take a look at the free article from SSCS Magazine Summer 2025 - Tinkering With CMOS Circuits at the Lunch Table With MOSbius [Education Corner] and consider attending this presentation.

Hawai‘i Island AI Summit

Sean Adkins, Chair of the IEEE Island of Hawai‘i Subsection, recently represented the IEEE at the inaugural Hawai‘i Island AI Summit, held on March 12, 2026 at the ARC of Hilo.

The summit brought together over 100 professionals from business, education, and technology sectors to explore how artificial intelligence is being adopted across industries and how organizations can begin integrating AI into their work. Presentations covered current AI applications, practical strategies for adoption, and addressed common questions from professionals looking to better understand and use these emerging technologies.

Sean attended the event to help represent and raise awareness of IEEE on Hawai‘i Island and connect with local leaders in the growing technology community. His participation also highlighted the work of the newly formed IEEE Island of Hawai‘i Subsection, which was established last year to support members and expand IEEE engagement across the Big Island. IEEE is excited to support conversations that help build a stronger local engineering and technology ecosystem.

Career Building Worshop

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended the SSCS + WIE Career Building Workshop on March 24th at UH Mānoa.

It was great to see such a strong turnout and engagement from students interested in learning more about career pathways in electrical engineering, microelectronics, and industry opportunities.

This event also presented an exciting milestone with the kickoff of the SSCS Student Branch Chapter at UH Mānoa, and we are grateful to everyone who came out to support and learn more about how to get involved.

A special thank you to our speakers:

Calvin Lee – IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society

Andrea Murillo Martinez – SSCS Conference Experience

Ashtar Aggelopoulos – Chair of the SSCS student branch chapter at UH Mānoa

Isar Mostafanezhad – Nalu Scientific

for sharing their time, experiences, and valuable insights with our students.

We would like to give a special thank you to the IEEE Hawaiʻi EDS/SSCS Joint Chapter for their support and sponsorship of this event. We also recognize the UH Mānoa SSCS Student Branch Chapter as a key collaborator in organizing and launching this initiative. We would also like to recognize our collaborating organizations IEEE Hawaii Women In Engineering and Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UH Mānoa for their partnership in making this event possible.

We look forward to continuing to build this community and connecting students to opportunities through IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) and the IEEE Hawaii Section.
