2024 IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) International Leadership Summit (ILS) |
| | Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will host The 2024 IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) International Leadership Summit (ILS) on August 1-2, 2024 at Discovery Hall in Richland, Washington. PNNL is one of only ten locations worldwide selected to host the prestigious event. In 2019, PNNL hosted the event, which attracted nearly 400 attendees from academia, industry, and national laboratories—it was hailed as a huge success by IEEE.
🔍 Exceptional posters highlighting cutting-edge technologies and innovative policies are encouraged to submit. The poster session offers ILS attendees the opportunity to connect and exchange insights into their research endeavors. The IEEE Richland Section will honor the most outstanding poster with the Best Poster Award.
Students, post-bachelors, post-masters, and post-doctorates are encouraged to submit an abstract on a related topic for the poster session. | |

Using Predictive Engineering for Multiple Response Optimization of an Integrated Circuit |
| | Engineers traditionally use deterministic modeling in their tasks, but challenges for developing and optimizing products and processes inspire us to venture beyond deterministic to probabilistic or stochastic modeling. In this continuation from the prior presentation, a case study applying predictive engineering for the optimization of 4 requirements for an integrated circuit (Integrated Alternator Regulator for automobiles) will be shared. Deterministic models were derived by using design of experiments (DOE) and response surface modeling (RSM) in concert with circuit simulations. These deterministic models were melded with probabilistic modeling using Monte Carlo Simulation and Variance Transmission. Yield Surface Modeling™ will be introduced and shared and applied for stochastic co-optimization of the four requirements of the design. Brief summaries and overviews of other applications of predictive engineering to integrated circuit design stochastic optimization will be shared. | |

| | We are thrilled to announce the success of our recent workshop, where we presented the Lei Poina’ole Project, an initiative dedicated to the sustainable growth and longevity of Hawaii’s lei industry. 🌺 As a Hawaii nonprofit organization, BEHawaii is committed to empowering and elevating our community by raising awareness and providing support to create prosperity. The Lei Poina’ole Project is at the heart of this mission, fostering community partnerships, educational programs, and a robust network of growers, makers, and vendors. Our speakers shared valuable insights into the significance of leis, their cultural heritage, and the ongoing efforts to support and develop the lei industry. The audience, seated around the speakers in traditional Hawaiian style, created an intimate and culturally immersive experience. We had a wonderful time learning more about the meaning of leis, their cultural importance, and how we can engage in supporting the development of the lei industry.Attendees enjoyed a hands-on lei-making session, where they could create their own leis while learning about the traditional techniques and materials used. We extend our gratitude to Lawson’s Safety Institute for collaborating with us and helping make this event a success. We hope to continue fostering such valuable partnerships in the future. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. We hope to see you at our future gatherings! |
