On-Package Chiplet Innovations with Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe): Challenges and Opportunities |
| | | High-performance workloads demand on-package integration of heterogeneous processing units, on-package memory, and communication infrastructure such as co-packaged optics to meet the demands of the supercomputing landscape. On-package interconnects are a critical component to deliver the power-efficient performance with the right feature set in this evolving landscape. Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe), is an open industry standard with fully specified stack that comprehends plug-and-play interoperability of chiplets on a package; like the seamless interoperability on board with well-established and successful off-package interconnect standards such PCI Express and Compute Express Link (CXL). In this talk, we will discuss the usages and key metrics associated with different technology choices in UCIe, both planar and vertical, and how it will evolve going forward. We will also delve into the challenges and opportunities for chiplets connected through UCIe, including test and debug. - Date: 11 Sep 2024

Physiological Radar for Biomedical Monitoring and Smart Buildings |
| | | Doppler radar technology can measure human physiological activity for a wide range of biomedical needs. Compact economical radar systems have been demonstrated as a non-invasive means of measuring vital signs through clothing and bedding, including heart and respiratory rates and signatures, activity, sleep posture, tidal respiratory volume, and pulse pressure. The value of such physiological monitoring extends beyond healthcare for applications including search and rescue, secure authentication, and smart buildings. This talk will provide an overview of state-of-the-art in Doppler radar physiological monitoring and related applications. - Date: 12 Sep 2024

Using Predictive Engineering for Multiple Response Optimization of an Integrated Circuit |
|  | Engineers traditionally use deterministic modeling in their tasks, but challenges for developing and optimizing products and processes inspire us to venture beyond deterministic to probabilistic or stochastic modeling. In this continuation from the prior presentation, a case study applying predictive engineering for the optimization of 4 requirements for an integrated circuit (Integrated Alternator Regulator for automobiles) will be shared. Brief summaries and overviews of other applications of predictive engineering to integrated circuit design stochastic optimization will be shared. - Date: 13 Sep 2024

NAWIC Hawaii Chapter 114 August General Membership Meeting + Empowered Connections |
|  | NAWIC Hawaii Chapter 114 "Empowered Connections" event on August 23rd was a hit, with over 120 women! The energy in the room with over 100+ mana wahine (and a few men) was amazing! There was such great networking, cross pollinating, connecting, reconnecting, and so many good laughs were had! IEEE Hawaii WIE was thrilled to be part of it and we’re excited to collaborate with these incredible groups for future events. Here’s to more empowering connections ahead! |

Advancing your member grade can bring added peer recognition to your accomplishments. The grade of Senior Member is the highest for which application may be made and shall require experience reflecting professional maturity. For admission or transfer to the grade of Senior Member, a candidate shall be an engineer, scientist, educator, technical executive, or originator in IEEE-designated fields for a total of 10 years and have demonstrated 5 years of significant performance.
