February 2024 Monthly Update

I hope you're having an amazing start to the new year!

It is my pleasure to serve as this year's IEEE Hawaii Section Chair. A new initiative I'd like to try is a monthly newsletter that includes upcoming events, calls for volunteers, and relevant Section news. I hope that these monthly wrap-ups will keep you in the loop with Section happenings and encourage you to get involved!

IEEE Hawaii Section Chair

The IEEE Hawaii Section will be holding its monthly Executive Committee (ExCom) meeting on Thursday, February 8th from 6:30-7:30pm. The meeting will be held at UH Manoa Holmes Hall 244, with an online option available via WebEx.

Dinner will be provided at the in-person meeting for $10 per person. Please give cash to Matt on the day of. Students do not need to bring payment.

The IEEE Hawaii Industry Applications Society (IAS) Chapter and Young Professionals (YP) Affinity Group held a joint Winter Pau Hana at Beer Lab Pearlridge on Thursday, December 7th, 2023.

The IEEE Hawaii Women In Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group held a seminar on Negotiating Your Salary on January 18th, 2024. Topics included salary negotiations, differences between men and women when it comes to negotiating, and suggestions/tips to help women negotiate salary in their current roles and for future job offers.
